Fatal Three-Vehicle Crash on Alabama 27 Near Geneva, Alabama Claims Life of 72-Year-Old Woman

A 72-year-old Geneva woman has died from injuries sustained in a three-vehicle crash on Alabama 27 in Geneva County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA). The collision occurred around 5:26 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, near the 17-mile marker, about 10 miles north of Geneva. State troopers report that Rachel G. Gilmore was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima when it was rear-ended by a 2017 Lincoln MKC driven by 50-year-old Tabatha H. Gainey of Westville, Florida. The force of that impact pushed Gilmore's vehicle into a 2009 Toyota Sienna driven by 20-year-old Elder Maquin of Enterprise. Sandra Ruiz, 23, of Enterprise, a passenger in the Sienna, was also injured and taken to Medical Center Enterprise for treatment. Gilmore was critically injured in the crash and died at Medical Center Enterprise on Saturday afternoon, September 19. ALEA's Highway Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. No additional information about the cause of the crash has been released.
