Stolen Jeep Crashes After High-Speed Police Chase at Eastern Boulevard and Carmichael Road in Montgomery, Alabama

A high-speed pursuit through east Montgomery ended in a crash on Wednesday night, September 23, 2026, when a fleeing Jeep ran a red light near the intersection of Carmichael Road and Eastern Boulevard and struck another vehicle, according to court documents. Agents with the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit said they tried to stop a 2018 Jeep Trackhawk in the same area after noticing the SUV had a shattered window and that the driver was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators said the driver, identified as 28-year-old Tobias Youngblood, did not stop. Instead, he reached speeds of up to 100 mph in a 35 mph zone and ran stop signs and multiple red lights. The pursuit ended when the Jeep entered the intersection against a red signal and collided with another car before rolling to a stop. Youngblood was then taken into custody. Investigators later determined the Jeep had been reported stolen out of Huntsville. Youngblood is charged with receiving stolen property and felony attempting to elude law enforcement, with bonds totaling $22,500. Information about the occupants of the other vehicle, including any injuries, has not been released.

The intersection is controlled by traffic signals, and drivers in the area regularly deal with multi-lane approaches, dedicated turn lanes, and vehicles entering from nearby business driveways. Because of this density, speeds far above the posted limit sharply reduce the time other motorists have to react, particularly at signalized intersections where drivers proceeding on a green light reasonably expect cross traffic to stop. After dark, headlights, signage, and commercial lighting can also make it harder to judge the speed of an approaching vehicle.
