Deputies say they arrested Marin at his residence in Bethel early Sunday morning and located the vehicle hidden in his garage. BETHEL — The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office arrested 45-year-old Richard Allen Marin in connection to the hit-and-run in Bethel that left a child seriously injured. Deputies say a car was allegedly driven by Marin and struck a child riding a bike Friday afternoon on Church Street. Deputies say the vehicle they had been looking for was eventually located in Bethel. The vehicle was impounded and Marin was arrested.

BETHEL, Maine — Police arrested a Bethel man at his home Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run in Bethel that left a child seriously injured Friday. Oxford County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Richard Allen Marin, 45, at his home in Bethel Sunday morning and found the vehicle suspected in the hit-and-run hidden in his garage. The child was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to an area hospital where the child remained in serious condition Sunday, authorities said. A car allegedly driven by Marin struck a child riding a bicycle on Church Street Friday afternoon, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies tracked down the vehicle’s registered owner, a woman, who provided deputies with information that led them to Marin and the vehicle.

Goffstown teen critically injured in Maine hit-and-run crash

Authorities in Maine say they've made an arrest in connection with a hit-and-run accident that seriously injured a teen bicyclist. Marin is being held at the Oxford County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. Officials on Sunday said the bicyclist is a 14-year-old boy from Goffstown, New Hampshire, who is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center. The Oxford County Sheriff's Office said multiple tips led to the garage in Bethel where they found the vehicle described by witnesses to the Friday afternoon accident. Police arrested 45-year-old Richard Marin, of Bethel, and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.

Bail reduced in hit-and-run accident in Bethel

The judge, however, set bail at $2,000 cash or $10,000 in property. LEWISTON — A judge at the Androscoggin District Court set $2,000 cash bail Monday afternoon for 45-year-old Richard Allen Marin of Bethel for the felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving a personal injury after a hit-and-run incident in Bethel that left a 14-year-old Goffstown, N.H., boy seriously injured on Friday, Oct. 16. At his initial court appearance on Monday by video conference in Lewiston District Court, the District Attorney Office's made a written recommendation that Marin be released on personal recognizance. Marin’s bail was initially set at $10,000 cash at the jail. Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies located the suspect vehicle late Saturday in Bethel.

Bethel man indicted with leaving the scene of a serious injury

According to reporting officer Oxford County Deputy Andrew Whitney, even if police determine Marin could not have avoided the accident “obviously they've still hit-and-run and left the scene." Marin made his initial appearance in 8th District Court in October and was later released from the Oxford County Jail on $2,000 cash bail.
