Pilot dies following small plane crash near airport in northern Michigan

Authorities say a metro Detroit pilot has died in a small plane crash near an airport in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula. Wallin said it appears the plane crashed sometime overnight on approach to the small airport for Harbor Springs, about 55 miles northeast of Traverse City. Emmet County Sheriff Peter Wallin told Local 4 the plane was discovered by an employee at Emmet Brick and Block around 7:30 a.m. The pilot, Arthur A. Green III of Farmington Hills, was the only person on board the plane. The plane is registered to the Tuskegee Airman National Historical Museum in Detroit.
