Matthew Blake Harrell, 24, and Cody Hammond, 26, killed in crash on Old Highway 24 in Lamar County, Mississippi

Emergency crews from Central Lamar Volunteer Fire Department, Oloh Volunteer Fire Department, ASAP Ambulance Service and the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department worked to extricate the passenger from the vehicle. A pair of wrecks on Old Highway 24 in Lamar County claimed the lives of two people, and injured four Monday night. The cause of the wreck is under investigation by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department. Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by Lamar County Deputy Coroner Andy Geske. The names are not being released pending notification of next of kin, and the cause of the wreck is under investigation by the Lamar County Sheriff’s Department.
