1 Killed in Truck-Van Crash on Montauk Highway: Police

A van carrying several people flipped over on the Montauk Highway when it was hit by a truck Tuesday evening, and one person has died in the crash, Suffolk police say. The van flipped over, and one person died, according to police. The van was going westbound on the highway in Brookhaven at about 5 p.m. when a truck traveling in the opposite direction swerved across the roadway and hit the van, police said. Several others were injured and were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center and Stony Brook University Hospital. It's not clear where the van was headed.
