Troopers: Woman using phone app causes NC crash that killed dad

State trooper F.J. Beam says Cherry's daughter, 35-year-old Tequila Cherry, was looking at her phone using Google maps. Authorities say a woman typing an address into a maps application on her cellphone while driving caused a Caldwell County wreck that killed her father. Beam says Tequila Cherry has been charged with driving with a revoked license. Beam says he will meet with prosecutors to consider if other charges will be filed. Investigators say she caused the wreck.

A North Carolina driver who was tapping an address into her cellphone caused a bad car wreck that killed her father, police said. The Caldwell County District Attorney's Office will determine whether to file additional charges against Cherry, Beam said. Tequila Cherry, 35, has been arrested on one count of driving with a revoked license, the Charlotte Observer reported Wednesday. The daughter was driving to a family friend's house and was putting the address into a map site, said North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper F.J. Beam, the paper reported. Six other people suffered injuries that weren't life threatening on the two-lane country road in Caldwell County.
Tequila Cherry was apparently entering an address into her Google Maps app at the time of the crash.
