Perry Jackson Frazier, 18, killed, and Dustin Garriss, 18, seriously injured in single-vehicle car crash into tree off of Hodges Road near Franklinton, North Carolina

One teen was killed and another was injured in a crash on Hodges Road near Franklinton early Saturday. Troopers say Frazier was driving a pickup truck south on Hodges Road at a high rate of speed and ran off the road to the left and struck a tree. A 19-year-old male passenger, whose name was not released, was flown by helicopter to WakeMed with serious injuries. Troopers say alcohol was a factor in the crash. It's unclear if his passenger was buckled in.

A Franklin County convenience store clerk has been charged with selling beer to two teens who were later involved in a fatal crash. Nagib Salem Ala, 59, was charged Thursday by the state Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement with two counts of selling beer to persons less than 21 years of age. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigated the wreck and notified ALE after determining alcohol was involved. Video surveillance from the store confirmed Ala sold them the beer without checking any identification. Ala was working at the Ingleside Grocery, at 3573 N.C. Highway 39 North in Louisburg, on Oct. 9 when, ALE agents said, Perry Jackson Frazier, 18, and Dustin Garriss, 18, purchased beer there.
