Driver accidentally crashes into Euless barber shop

A Euless barber shop owner is looking for safety upgrades after a driver plowed into his storefront last Friday.

A driver accidentally plowed into Razor's Edge Barber Shop in Euless, Texas, late on a Friday evening, just as the business was preparing to close for the night. According to Euless Police, an elderly man mistakenly pressed the gas pedal instead of reversing his vehicle, sending the car crashing directly into the storefront. The impact created a massive hole in the front of the building and sent debris flying throughout the interior. One man inside the shop was struck directly by the vehicle, while several others sustained injuries from flying debris. Despite the severity of the crash, no victims required hospital transport following the incident. Euless Fire Department responded to the scene and confirmed there was no structural damage to the building itself. The shop owner is now actively seeking safety upgrades to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future, highlighting a concern shared by many small business owners whose storefronts face direct vehicle access.

Location and Infrastructure

Razor's Edge Barber Shop is located in Euless, Texas, a mid-cities community situated between Dallas and Fort Worth within Tarrant County. Euless is part of the densely trafficked Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, where commercial storefronts frequently border parking lots and roadways with minimal protective barriers. Businesses in such configurations are particularly vulnerable to storefront vehicle intrusion incidents, a growing safety concern nationwide. The absence of bollards, concrete barriers, or other vehicle-rated perimeter protection at the location contributed to the car's unimpeded entry into the building. The Euless Fire Department's assessment confirmed that while the facade sustained significant damage — leaving a large opening in the front of the structure — the core structural integrity of the building remained intact.

Legal Rights and Considerations

Under Texas law, individuals injured in accidents caused by driver negligence — including incidents involving unintended acceleration or pedal error — may have grounds to pursue a personal injury claim. Texas follows a modified comparative fault rule, meaning an injured party can recover damages as long as they are not more than 50% responsible for the incident. Applicable damages may include medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and property damage. Business owners like the one at Razor's Edge may also be entitled to compensation for property damage and business interruption losses. Texas has a two-year statute of limitations for personal injury and property damage claims, meaning affected parties generally must file within two years of the incident date. Those involved are encouraged to document injuries and property damage thoroughly and consult with a licensed Texas attorney to understand their specific rights and options.
