Two Caroline County brothers have died after their vehicle veered off the road while driving to Spotsylvania High School, where they were students. The teenagers had been traveling west on state Route 639 when their vehicle veered off the road and struck some trees. Virginia media outlets are reporting that 18-year-old Ian Brown and 15-year-old Jalen Brown were killed Thursday morning. Stephan M. Vick says the boys’ mother, a teacher at the school, was about two minutes behind her sons in a separate car. Vick says neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors.

Jalen's friend Charlie Lewis shared memories from the first time he met him. "Jalen was in my math class last year. "He was the quiet one. I sat next to him. He had us laughing and stuff. We work together. he was just a good kid," Lewis said.
