Four Illinois Men Drown In WisconsinLake

(CBS) – Two bodies were recovered and two were still missing Sunday after four Illinois men took a canoe out on a frigid Wisconsin lake, authorities said. The four unidentified men – aged 20 to 23 – were staying with a larger group of friends at house on Lake Beulah and went outside around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to smoke cigarettes as the others were retiring, says Jason Roberts, a warden for the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The group of friends that had remained at the house told investigators everyone had been drinking before the accident, he said. The DNR official referred questions about the identities of the victims to the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office.
